Kenny Unruh was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas and went to Shawnee Mission South High School. He graduated from the University of Kansas with highest distinction and majors in Chemistry and Philosophy. He went to medical school at Mayo Medical School at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following his time at the Mayo Clinic, he completed his orthopaedic residency at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Unruh completed his Hand, Upper Extremity and Microvascular fellowship at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis, Indiana and is currently a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a certificate of additional qualification in hand surgery.
Dr. Unruh returned to his hometown by joining Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants. He has remained persistent in his goal to obtain the best medical, orthopedic surgery and fellowship training so that he may return to the Kansas City area and serve his hometown. His clinical and surgical interests include all-inclusive care of the upper extremity for adult and pediatric patients including arthritis, trauma, compression neuropathies, arthroscopy and workers compensation.
Dr. Unruh is married to his high school sweetheart and has three sons.
